Finally, I am sharing about our trip to Salt Lake City for Quilt Market. First of all, the Quilt Market is a trade show where new fabric lines and other sewing related goodies are previewed. Since Piper Pixie Doodle is now officially a business we were able to attend. It’s sort of a big deal…to me anyway!
Nicolle and I flew to Salt Lake City a day early just to rest a bit before we hit the floor running. Salt Lake City is gorgeous, the mountains are so close, and are on three sides of the city. So, it was hard finding our way, being used to mountains being on the west.
Liquor laws are a little confusing. At one restaurant, Nicolle was carded before we even went in to eat. We stayed at a hotel that was only 3 blocks from the Convention Center, so we just planned to walk everywhere. Good idea in theory.
The day before the actual Convention began started off with a general session and the cofounders of Cotton + Steel were featured, announcing the new line they will have out in the fall, by Rifle Paper Company. It is gorgeous. There are several substrates, and quite a few of them have gold on them. I can’t wait!!! There were workshops where we heard Tula Pink, Elizabeth Hartmann, Lizzy House (she got married two weeks later) and heard some business seminars.
We also got a peek at the exhibit hall, which wasn’t open yet. About the size of a football field, I think.
